Teaching Leadership and Awards *
I have been recently awarded the Arts and Science Student Union (ASSU) 2025 ASSU Ranjini (Rini) Ghosh Excellence in Teaching Award at the University of Toronto. The award cited that I was nominated for being “a transformative instructor” who has an “engaging and inspiring teaching style” which encourages “open discussions and challenged [students] to think critically about the material that [I] also connected to the real world.” The award also mentions that “students praised [my] ability to take complex theoretical concepts and explain them in ways which fostered a deeper understanding of the readings.”
I have led Teaching Assistant training for new graduate students on a yearly basis at the University of Toronto and McMaster University for the past nine years. I have over 15 years of experience in leadership in teaching and teaching training at the university level. I was nominated for an “Excellence in Teaching Assistantship Award” (2006) by students and faculty in the English and Cultural Studies at McMaster University.
Recently, I have been recruited as a faculty member for the 2024 “Radical Relationalities” School at the Yellowhead Institute (Radical Policy School) based at the Toronto Metropolitan University. I have also been recruited as a research member (and educator) at the Barnard Centre for Research on Women.
